On Chinese networks
On hotel Wi‑Fi or a local SIM card, messages don't send or arrive and calls don't connect. There is no error — LINE just stays silent until you're back on an open network.
Apps in China
Does LINE work in China?
Not on Chinese networks — LINE has been blocked in mainland China since 2014. On a ChinaeSIMGo eSIM it works normally: chats, stickers, voice and video calls, no VPN.

Ready to roamMainland China only eSIM
With a ChinaeSIMGo eSIM
ChinaeSIMGo is a roaming eSIM, so your phone never uses a Chinese internet connection. Traffic leaves through a partner network outside mainland China — LINE sees an ordinary connection and works the way it does at home. There is nothing to install or switch on, and it keeps working for your whole trip.
Good to know
- Keep your home SIM in the phone so LINE stays on your number and SMS verification still reaches you.
- Log in to LINE on the phone you're taking before you fly. New-device logins need an SMS code and are easier to sort out at home.
