On Chinese networks
On hotel Wi‑Fi or a local SIM card, text messages sometimes get through, but photos, calls, new logins and adding friends usually fail. You can't count on it for staying in touch.

Does KakaoTalk work in China?
Not reliably — KakaoTalk has been restricted in mainland China since 2014. On a ChinaeSIMGo eSIM it works normally: chats, photos, voice and video calls, no VPN.

Ready to roamMainland China only eSIM
With a ChinaeSIMGo eSIM
ChinaeSIMGo is a roaming eSIM, so your phone never uses a Chinese internet connection. Traffic leaves through a partner network outside mainland China — KakaoTalk sees an ordinary connection and works the way it does at home. There is nothing to install or switch on, and it keeps working for your whole trip.
Good to know
- Keep your Korean SIM in the phone. KakaoTalk stays tied to your own number and you can still receive verification texts.
- Naver and Daum are also blocked on Chinese networks. On the eSIM they open as usual.
