On Chinese networks
On hotel Wi‑Fi or a local SIM card the Gmail app stops syncing, and the iPhone Mail app can't reach Google's servers either. You won't see booking confirmations, boarding passes or 2‑step codes sent to that address.

Does Gmail work in China?
Not on Chinese networks — Gmail and every other Google service have been blocked in mainland China since 2014. On a ChinaeSIMGo eSIM, Gmail syncs normally in the app and in the browser, no VPN.

Ready to roamMainland China only eSIM
With a ChinaeSIMGo eSIM
ChinaeSIMGo is a roaming eSIM, so your phone never uses a Chinese internet connection. Traffic leaves through a partner network outside mainland China — Gmail sees an ordinary connection and works the way it does at home. There is nothing to install or switch on, and it keeps working for your whole trip.
Good to know
- The same goes for Google Drive, Docs, Calendar, Photos and Google Translate — all blocked locally, all fine on the eSIM.
- Save tickets and hotel confirmations as PDFs or screenshots before you fly anyway. It's a good habit for any trip.
